Jinyao Lin

Jinyao Lin is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher holding doctoral degrees in music, fine arts, and information engineering. His practice is deeply rooted in creative coding, and he employs algorithms and real-time computation to generate evolving audiovisual narratives. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the D-School at National Taiwan University, where he focuses on the interplay between immersive sound environments and interactive spatial installations.

His works bridge between generative art and theatre. Representative works include Two Swallows – Ode to Wu Guanzhong(2011), recipient of the Hong Kong Dance Award for Best Stage Design;  Persistence of Memory, an award-winning production at the McCallum Theatre in the United States; and AQUA AR(2018), which received the Grand Prize at the TNH Creative Festival. The new media theatre production Distortion City, which he directed, was also invited to tour in France.
