Volume DAO
Volume DAO is a collective initiated around blockchain art and generative art, engaging across artistic practice, building collections, research, and education. It is dedicated to advancing the development of digital and generative art in Taiwan and internationally. Vol is an abbreviation of Volume. Beyond referring to sound or resonance, it also evokes a unit of collection—such as a “volume”, “edition”, or “compilation”. Through curatorial practice, writing, dialogue, and experimentation, Volume DAO is committed to serving as a bridge, connecting on-chain and off-chain contexts, digital and analog practices, as well as art ecosystems and technological innovation. In doing so, it seeks to cross-pollinate culture in the broadest sense, and actively explores the various possibilities for shaping the future world of art and the cultural values it embodies.
In 2022, Volume DAO received support from the National Culture and Arts Foundation’s “Act for the Future” program. Since then, it has organized a series of exhibitions and programs, including Do Machines Dream of NFTs?, The Support of Dreams, the Surface of Things, Generative Taipei On-Site: The Archipelago Hashed, INFLUENTIA, Ties: Volume DAO – Fxhash Art Salon and Community Day, and GM, Kairos – Proof of Attendance for Arts and Cultural ecosystem at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. These exhibitions and programs have introduced and presented AI and generative art, as well as broader crypto art and on-chain creativities. They have also fostered connections between international and local communities, artists, and collectors through conferences, workshops, and community gatherings.
